One motorcyclist is dead following a crash on Route 104 across from Maplewood Park.
According to investigators, 27-year-old Ramon Gonzalez was traveling eastbound when he lost control and crossed the median into the path of a westbound car.
Gonzalez was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The driver and passenger in the car sustained minor injuries.
Deonna Wright witnessed the accident.
“They were doing wheelies and having fun, and then the black motorcycle hit the car and went underneath the car,” said Wright.
Wright said she heard a loud bang and then the sound of breaking glass.
“It sounded like a car was breaking through glass,” Wright said.
Gonzalez was a well-known singer in Puerto Rico who went by the name Jadiel. He was here visiting family and was set to perform at a local bar on Saturday night.
Felix, a local barber who cut Gonzalez’s hair while he was in town, says the victim was nice to everyone.
“He was a good guy. He was funny. He talked well with everybody. He was nice, just a nice person. I feel bad. I’m going to miss him,” said Felix.
Route 104 has been reopened to traffic.
