A Brockport middle school student found close to $200 in cash on the sidewalk. What he did with it earned him a “Do the Right Thing Award.”
Calvin Moyer is a sixth grader at Oliver Middle School. He was nominated for the award by Brockport’s Superintendent of Schools when she heard what he did.
He spotted $180 on the ground after a dentist appointment. He and his mom didn't waste any time. They checked nearby businesses to see if anyone lost some cash. They didn't say how much. One man said “yes”. It turns out he has been out of work and was just hired to cater a party to help make ends meet.
Calvin Moyer said, “He was surprised and he was really grateful that we found it because he needed the money to buy the groceries for the party he was catering.”
Calvin says it made him feel good to do the right thing.
