A Rochester man found guilty in a 2007 murder was sentenced Wednesday.

Darrell Boyd was sentenced to the maximum of 25 years to life in prison for the murder of Katharina Lawn.

In April of this year, a jury found Boyd guilty of brutally beating and strangling Lawn in her apartment on Merchants Road on April 20, 2007. Boyd then set fire to the apartment in attempt to cover up the crime.

Boyd was arrested last year after new DNA evidence surfaced. Investigators found Boyd’s DNA underneath Lawn’s fingernails.
