Community helps man in need get house back in order

The heavy rains overnight have left more disaster and devastation, not only did it make existing problems worse, it created new ones. It is a serious situation in many communities including Penn Yan.

Many people and volunteers are back to square one Friday. Dozens of people are helping get a man in need's house back in order so he can move back in as soon as possible.

Bonnie Barkley's cousin was left paralyzed after a terrible fire in the 1980’s. 

Bonnie Barkley said, “It took him a long time to get to living here by himself and it is going to take him a little longer to get back at it.”

Kevin Duby had to be rescued by firefighters as the flood water came rushing into his home. His family and other community members are working Friday to get his place back in order.

Barkley said, “We've boxed up boxes and boxes of CD music and CD players. That's what we did first, knowing how much it meant to him. It is kind of emotional, but we will get there.”
