UPDATE: Firefighters say progress has been made overnight following flooding Friday that forced some residence to be evacuated in Fairport.
Firefighters tell News10NBC that they have worked throughout the night to clear and pump water out. They say now the standing water in the streets has receded and Main Street has been re-opened. Crews are still working to pump water out of basements for residents, so they can return home as soon as possible.

Due to flooding, firefighters in Fairport say some streets are closed and some people have been evacuated.
Officials say areas near Railroad Street, Lift Bridge Lane and Water Street are closed and people are being evacuated at this time due to flooding. Main Street from West Church Street to High Street is also closed.
Fairport Mayor Fritz May says that the canal flooded into an overflow creek, which flooded the roads and the basements of nearby homes and businesses. Fairport Electric cut power to about eight residences. Crews will work over the weekend to clean up, according to the mayor.
Residents are asked to avoid unnecessary travel to avoid backups.
