A Wayne County man has been charged with burglary after a Victor resident found him inside the home Monday morning, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a Route 251 residence in the Town of Victor for the report of a residential burglary in progress, after the resident there was awakened by someone in the home, walked downstairs to the first floor and saw a man inside the residence. The resident called 911 as the intruder fled, deputies said. He was identified as Thomas G. Oakley, 40, of 122 Water St. in Clyde, according to deputies.
A K9 search was started and ended when a deputy located Oakley riding a bicycle nearby on Route 251, deputies said.
A subsequent investigation revealed that several area residences and business had been unlawfully entered and that items were stolen from some.
Arraigned in Victor Town Court, Oakley was remanded to the Ontario County Jail in lieu of bail. Further charges are expected as investigation continues.
