New York Democrats are meeting on Long Island to endorse the re-election of Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli.

The state party's two-day convention gets underway Wednesday morning in Melville.

Schneiderman and DiNapoli are set to be nominated on Wednesday, the same day Cuomo is expected to announce his running mate for lieutenant governor. Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy announced earlier this month he is not seeking another term.

Nominations for governor and lieutenant governor are scheduled for Thursday.

The state's Republican Party held its convention last week and nominated Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino for governor.

The two conventions are regarded as the formal start of campaign season.
