Any chance for more rain is not something people in Penn Yan want to hear. One week ago, floodwaters washed out homes and businesses, leaving some people with nothing.

Rain is falling again Wednesday in the village of Penn Yan. After what the Weather Service officials are calling it a historic flood, it is the last thing anyone in Penn Yan wants to see.

At the Arc of Yates County, the hard work and cleanup efforts continue and so did the work to try and prevent water damage of the same magnitude from happening anytime soon.

On Elm Street, which was the hardest hit by the floodwaters, the owner of the Penn Yan Diner seemed to take everything in stride. Even the news that a flood watch was up for Wednesday night didn’t sway her spirits.
