Boating advisory on Canandaigua and Honeoye Lakes

Created: 05/21/2014 5:18 PM WHEC.com

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office has issued a boating advisory on both Canandaigua Lake and Honeoye Lake until further.

Boating is still allowed, but the sheriff’s office is urging boaters to restrict their vessel speed to five miles per hour as floating debris remains in the lakes. Boaters are also being asked to stay as far away from the shoreline as possible to reduce shoreline erosion and to avoid docks that may be submerged.

The sheriff’s office says due to the recent heavy rain, the level of both lakes is very high.
