Rochester Police officers, firefighters and volunteers are encouraging residents to share concerns and anonymous tips with them during the first project T.I.P.S event of the year.

Staring at 2 p.m., the group will knock on doors in the Scio Street neighborhood in an effort to build trust with neighbors. Afterwards, people are invited to a community cookout at the YMCA Child Care Center located at 53 Lewis Street.

T.I.P.S., which stands for trust, information, programs and services, is a program dedicated to opening communications between the community and officials. This is the third time project T.I.P.S has canvassed the Scio Street neighborhood since the program started in 2008.
