Rochester receives high ranking in pedestrian safety

It's a study that will make you feel safer the next time you take a walk through your neighborhood.

Rochester was recently rated the ninth safest city in the country for pedestrians, according to a study by the non-profit group Smart Group America. Among the other cities on the list are Boston, Pittsburgh and Seattle. The top three cities ranked as least safe for pedestrians are all located in Florida. They include Orlando, Tampa and Jacksonville. The study found that wider streets with higher speed limits put pedestrians in more danger.
