A 47-year-old Cayuga County man has died as a result of injuries sustained when there was an explosion at his home in the Town of Locke.

Sheriff’s deputies say 47-year-old Shawn Perreault was making methamphetamine when the process he was using exploded earlier this month. Investigators say the explosion caused the mobile home and adjacent barn to catch fire.

Perreault was taken to the hospital by his wife and later airlifted to University Hospital with burns to more than 60-percent of his body. Today we learned he passed away from his injuries.
