Memorial Day ceremony to honor fallen

A service to honor the men and women who gave their lives to serve and protect our country.

Today people gathered downtown for a special Memorial Day ceremony. Veterans from our area also came out to pay tribute to fellow service men that have fallen.

The ceremony included color guards, honor guards and a gun salute. Organizers say it’s important to recognize those that have served before us.

“It’s an opportunity to show this community that veterans are about veterans. It’s the ability to make Memorial Day what Memorial Day should really be about,” said Rene Vanmulem, 40 & 8 Club Manager.
