Police have evacuated homes and businesses near an upstate New York military recruiting office after a confrontational man left behind a bag and his car.

Police in the town of Tonawanda police, just north of Buffalo, say they caught up with the man shortly after he argued with a Marine recruiter, made a threatening remark and left the building about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The Erie County bomb squad has been called in to examine the man's car and bag.

Police haven't released the man's name.
