Developers of the abandoned Medley Centre Mall have until 5 p.m. Wednesday to pay a $100,000 fine to the Town of Irondequoit. The owners, Bersin Properties, plead no contest to safety violations earlier this month. The violations came to light after a sprinkler pipe burst in the mall over the winter, causing extensive water damage. Town officials say that prompted an inspection which resulted in the violations.

This project has received millions of dollars in tax breaks, but Monroe County is working to end them after the developers missed several payment deadlines. During last week's State of the Town Address, Supervisor Adam Bello says his priority is to prevent tax payers from having to foot the bill for the mall.

We will be keeping a close eye on this deadline and bring you updates as they become available.
