Students participate in Soap Box Derby

Rochester city school students took part in a Soap Box Derby on Saturday morning.

Students raced cars as family and friends cheered them on. Some students made their own soap box driving machines while others got to race with official pilot cars.

“It’s kind of scary because you’re sitting down; you’re actually lying down, so if the front of the car breaks, you’ll just slide right through. If you were sitting up at least you know you’re not going to fall,” said Joshua Johnson, a participant.

More than 20 vendors were on hand, along with live music playing for the derby.
