A Rochester man is facing charges after police say he stole a car, crashed it and then led them on a foot chase in Webster. The incident caused police to notify the Webster Central School District.

Police say 28-year-old Sharone S. Thomas, of Rochester, stole a car from a family member in Sodus, crashed it into a garage and then took off.

Two hours later, with the help of citizens, police located Thomas in Webster. When they approached him, police say he resisted arrest and took off into a wooded area near Dewitt Road and Route 104. Police caught him near the old rest area on Route 104 westbound after a brief foot chase.

Due to the proximity of the event to DeWitt Road Elementary School, the Webster Central School District was advised of the situation.

Thomas is charged with resisting arrest. More charges are pending.
