The Rochester Red Wings lost the series finale to the Gwinnett Braves, 6-1, Monday night as G-Braves starter Yunesky Maya pitched seven scoreless innings striking out eight. Despite the loss, the Wings still took 3 of 4 from Gwinnett to win the series. The loss snaps Rochester’s 8-game win streak over Gwinnett dating back to last season. The Wings now embark on a nine-game (eight day) road trip starting Tuesday night in Charlotte.

Brad Nelson (2-for-4; HR, RBI) hit his second home run of the season and first at Frontier Field in the bottom of the ninth to keep the Wings from being shut out. Over his last 10 games Nelson is hitting .316 (12-for-38) with two doubles, two home runs and three RBI. He has four multi-hit games over the 10-game period, after having just three in his first 30 games.

Alex Meyer lasted five innings allowing four runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out five. The seven hits are a tied for season-high allowed by Meyer, previously allowed in his last loss (May 10 vs. TOL). The righty regained the International League lead in strikeouts with 67 on the season.

Eric Farris (1-for-4) extended his hitting streak to six games, batting.375 (9-for-24) with two doubles, two runs and three RBI over that stretch. Farris has also picked up a hit in seven of his last eight games, going 11-for-32 (.344).

Chris Colabello (0-for-3) became the Wings’ first player to be ejected this year when he was tossed by home plate umpire Joe Born in the 6th inning. The reigning IL MVP is batting .083 (2-for-24) with a pair of RBI in seven games since being optioned down to Rochester.

Trevor May was tabbed the International League Pitcher of the Week (May 26-June 1), the league announced on Monday. Over a pair of starts last week, May went 2-0 without allowing an earned run over 12 innings of work, earning victories over Syracuse (Monday) and Gwinnett (Saturday). Over his last four starts -- all of which have come at Frontier Field – May is 4-0 and hasn’t allowed an earned run. The 26-inning streak without yielding an earned run has dropped his ERA from 4.97 on May 7 to 2.62 – 7th best in the IL. Over the 4-game win streak, he’s allowed just one run on 16 hits and 11 walks while striking out 19.

Chris Herrmann was placed on the 7-day DL with a right wrist sprain (retro to 5/31) before the game Monday. Herrmann was 17-for-44 (.386) with 5 XBH over his last 12 games with Rochester.
