A lawsuit that claimed a local high school was discriminating against some female athletes has been settled. As a result, the Batavia girls’ softball team will get a new stadium. This story comes to us from the Batavia Daily News.
Last year, three softball players sued saying they were forced to play on sub-standard fields at the school. But for the boys, the district rented a professional minor league stadium.
The district will build a new softball stadium, complete with permanent dugouts, fencing, and an electronic scoreboard. It's all part of the settlement. That's expected to be complete in time for the 2015 season.
