A 29-year-old Penfield man is facing a slew of charges after an investigation into stolen credit and debit card numbers.
Andres Vasquez is facing 47 counts of criminal possession of a forgery device, unlawful possession of personal ID and one count of scheme to defraud.
Sheriff’s deputies say Vasquez, who also lives in Florida, was involved in the distribution of stolen credit and debit card numbers with co-conspirators who live in the Rochester area. According to investigators, the stolen numbers were encrypted on pre-existing cards and used to make counterfeit cards. Deputies say the process is known as cloning. We are told the fake cards were used to purchase large amounts of gift cards in Monroe County and throughout the state of New York.
Additional arrests are pending.
