NY attorney general seeks help in dealing with abandoned homes

Created: 06/04/2014 6:29 PM WHEC.com

A lawmaker is stepping in to do something about all the abandoned homes around the Rochester area.

Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is proposing legislation that would require mortgage lenders to maintain what he’s calling “zombie properties”. It would make banks and other lenders responsible for homes that have been abandoned after the start of a foreclosure.

The attorney general is asking lawmakers to vote on the bill before adjourning this month.
