President Barack Obama says the American commitment to liberty that is "written in blood" on the beaches of Normandy endures with a new generation.
Obama honored the legacy of World War II veterans in a visit to France's Omaha Beach today, on the 70th anniversary of the D-Day invasion.
Obama says a new generation of Americans is showing their commitment to the cause of freedom. His remarks come at the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, where nearly 10,000 are buried.
Before he spoke, Obama met with veterans of Normandy and those who have served since the attacks on the U.S. on Sept. 11, 2001. He told the D-day veterans that their legacy is in good hands.
