More than 820 Martha Brown Middle School students are celebrating their 35th year of giving to the Children’s Miracle Network, Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong and the Center for Youth.

Students raised more than $20,000 to donate. They created teams, got people to sponsor them and walked for an hour and a half non-stop.

Organizers say this not only raises money, but teaches the kids a good lesson.

Maura Kerkezis, teacher and organizer, said, “Community service is a great thing to pass on to the next generation and every time we have laid this out for them they have just abundantly responded.”

Over the past 35 years, organizers say they have raised more than $280,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network.
