The Livingston County Sheriff's Office says a man and his wife riding on a motorcycle were involved in a crash, after a deer ran into the road and hit them early Sunday morning.

According to Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, the couple was riding the motorcycle north on State Highway 36, near the Letchworth State Park entrance, when a deer ran onto the road.

A witness at the scene told deputies that the driver, 46-year-old Kenneth Price, of Arkport, tried to avoid the deer, but it ran into the side of the motorcycle.

Price lost control and slid about 75 feet into a ditch. Deputies say both riders were thrown off. Price and his wife Janine were taken by ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Deputies say their injuries are considered non-life threatening at this time.
