A local dealership gave away keys for diplomas on Saturday.
The Dick Ide Family of Dealerships gave away a brand new car to one lucky Penfield senior at their YMCA Senior Bash. All seniors were able to enter the giveaway and win prizes on one condition: they had to successfully graduate in June.
The grand prize winner, Elizabet Manchola, received a car and $4,000 to cover any additional expenses. She got to choose from a 2014 Honda Civic, a Mazda3 or VW Jetta.
The winners were selected through a raffle, and the number of entries they received was based on their GPA, filling out entry slips at Dick Ide Dealerships and the Student Sponsor Program.
Mitch and Rich Ide are both alumni of Penfield High School and say they enjoy giving back to the community. The main objective of the giveaway is to motivate seniors to work hard in school and receive good grades.
“It’s so amazing to see the kids so happy. We are fortunate to be able to give back to the community like this, and help a graduating senior get a head start right out of high school. This is one of my favorite things we do all year,” said Rich Ide, Vice President of Dick Ide Family of Dealerships.
The winners were:
Grand Prize of Car + $4,000: Elizabet Manchola
2nd Place $1,000 Scholarship: Nicholas Liotta
3rd Place $500 Scholarship: Renee Katafiaz
Honorable Mentions $250: Jeffrey Doser, Brittany Gibbs and Andrew Hossenlopp
