News10NBC is continuing to track the latest developments in those reports from drivers of windows being damaged. Police say two more cars were hit by something on Saturday. Investigators also responded to a report of a man seen along 390 wearing a camouflage suit.
News10NBC did see a few extra patrol cars along a stretch of 390 as the list of reported cases of windows being shattered continues to grow. News10NBC also spoke with a woman who says she might be among the victims as well.
“It was so loud, I had my windows up and that is what startled me, ‘What the heck was that?’ It was so loud."
The woman says it left her shaking for the rest of the day. She doesn’t want to be identified for fear there may be someone out there shooting at cars. She was driving on West Henrietta Road last Thursday when she says something hit the hood of her minivan. She had no idea what it was, but she doesn’t believe it was a rock because she says there was no traffic near her at the time.
"It was a sound I never heard before and I don't know how a rock would have hit me from that angle with no one in front of me and no one around."
She reported it to the police, which continue to get calls about damaged cars. There have now been more than a dozen incidents.
The sheriff's department has already put out a warning that the damage may be the work of drive by suspects. There were two more reported incidents on Saturday, both on 390. One incident was near Ridge Road in Greece. The other one was near Kendrick Road in Brighton. Police are not sure yet if those cars were hit accidentally by rocks or debris.
Sgt. Samuel Spezio, New York State Police, said, “We're just following up on leads, following up on investigations, interviewing area neighborhood residents and going from there."
Police also got a call on Saturday for a suspicious person wearing a camouflage outfit near the Vintage Lane exit on 390. They brought in the dogs to help search for clues, but say they were unable to verify if anyone was really there.
