News10NBC has learned that six people, including a three-year-old toddler, were taken to the hospital after a car crashed into a restaurant in Geneva.
The owner of the car says his wife, 64-year-old Kathleen Drooby, was parking at Denny’s when he says she told him something seemed to be wrong with the car and she couldn’t stop it.
Thirteen people were inside the restaurant at the time. No one was hit by the car, but they were hit by falling debris. Six people, including Drooby and her 79-year-old passenger were taken to the hospital.
A three-year-old was taken by Mercy Flight to Strong Hospital. Everyone was else was taken to Geneva General, including the little boy’s mother and grandmother. Sheriff’s deputies say all the injuries appear to be minor.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office says if this had happened 15 minutes earlier, the outcome could have been much more serious.
Right now, the fire department is working on shoring up the wall before the car is removed to make sure the wall doesn’t collapse when it’s pulled out. We are told the Denny’s will be closed for quite some time.
