Two people had to be rescued from Conesus Lake on Monday after their boat tipped over.

Sheriff’s Deputies say Thomas A. McIntyre, of Perry, and his passenger, Randy L. Knowles Sr., also of Perry, were found clinging to floating objects on Conesus Lake. They were pulled from the water by sheriff’s deputies. They were not injured.

McIntyre told sheriff’s deputies that he and Knowles had been fishing when they noticed that the boat was taking on water and sinking. The two managed to grab a portable air horn before the boat sank to signal for help.

Sheriff’s deputies are reminding boaters to wear life jackets when they are out on the water.
