A dinner outing turned into a nightmare for the family of a three-year-old boy. A car crashed through a Denny’s restaurant in Geneva Tuesday night while two dozen customers were inside eating.
Investigators say a 64-year-old Geneva woman was pulling into a parking spot at the restaurant and the car just didn’t stop. The restaurant is still closed and will remain closed until Thursday.
Craig Fish is particularly thankful to be playing with his son.
Craig Fish said, “You tend to start taking them for granted.”
But not today after a family dinner at Denny’s turned disastrous.
Soraya Fish said, “She left after she took our drink orders and then boom, I thought it was a tornado or an earthquake or something.”
It was a car crashing through the wall into the booth next to them, pinning Soraya Fish in between the booth and the table.
Soraya Fish said, “I just squeezed really tight to get out. I wanted to hold my son so bad.”
The whole family was taken to the hospital. Little Gabriel was airlifted to Strong.
Craig Fish said, “The whole experience for him was very traumatic because here he's getting a little neck brace put on him and a little suit that prohibits his range of motion and he's getting hauled away on a helicopter, his first helicopter ride ever.”
Now this family says they feel closer than ever.
Craig Fish said, “To think that there's a possibility that he suddenly, that he might not be there anymore, I don't know that I'd wish that on anybody.”
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Department says they have no new information to release at this time.
