Americans celebrate Flag Day

Many Americans across the nation celebrated their heritage by flying the stars and stripes on Saturday for Flag Day.

Flag Day dates back to 1777 when Congress wanted to establish an official flag for the new country. They passed the first Flag Act on June 14th.

Saturday also happened to be the 200th anniversary of The Star-Spangled Banner, our National Anthem written by Francis Scott Key.
