A 25-year-old Rochester man is in guarded condition after police say his car slammed into a utility pole, snapping it off at its base.

Police say they believe speed was a factor in the crash. It happened around 5 a.m. Sunday on Dewey Avenue, just north of McCall Road.

Police say the driver, Jesse Bridges, was trapped under his car after the crash. He was taken to Strong Memorial hospital with serious injuries.
