Governor Andrew Cuomo is asking for a federal disaster declaration after flooding rains devastated part of the Finger Lakes last month.

Cuomo sent a letter to President Obama asking for federal assistance for Livingston, Ontario and Yates Counties. The letter says there is nearly $10-million in validated damaged in the Penn Yan and Yates County and it will cost each resident more than $348 to fix.

Governor Cuomo says help from the federal government is "critical" for New York to recover physically and economically.
