Voters in West Irondequoit have voted down the proposed budget for the second time.
There needed to be a super majority of 60-percent to pass the budget, but with the yes votes tallying 3,363, and the no votes coming in at 2,789, there was only a 55-percent majority.
Under state law, districts can only raise the tax levy by two percent. West Irondequoit officials, however, wanted to raise that tax cap to almost four percent.
The district will now use it's contingency budget, with $1.5 million in cuts.
