If you are headed to any of Rochester’s many festivals, city officials are asking you to leave your dogs at home.

The City of Rochester is launching a campaign called "Paws and Think" and soon you will see posters around town.

Officials say dogs and large crowds do not mix for several reasons. Leashes can get tangled with other dog or trip people and hot pavement can hurt dogs' paws.

The campaign does not apply to service dogs.
