Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren is in Washington D.C. Wednesday to attend the first-ever White House Maker Faire.
The event, which is hosted at the White House, celebrates students and entrepreneurs who are inventing the future with new technologies and techniques.
"I'm excited for the future of making in our nation and am honored to represent our city as a 'Maker Mayor' today at the White House." said Warren. "The synergy of Rochester's manufacturing sector is creating momentum and I'm grateful for this new partnership with the Administration. I pledge to do my part, along with our partners in academia and the private sector, to advance the Maker Movement--creating new jobs in our community, bolstering STEM education opportunities for our youth, and keeping Rochester at the forefront of innovation, entrepreneurship, and advanced manufacturing not just in our region but in the nation."
Warren joins more than 90 local governments helping to boost American manufacturing.
