A Genesee County Sheriff's Deputy thanked the man who dragged him from a car during the suspect's sentencing on Monday. According to the Batavia Daily News, Deputy Brian Thompson said religion helped him forgive 36-year-old Scott Kopper.

Investigators say Kopper, who was wanted for a parole violation, closed a car window on Thompson's arm after being pulled over on Route 33 in Pembroke back in January. Police say Kopper dragged the deputy 200 feet before a tow truck driver intervened.

Last month, Kopper pled guilty to second degree assault. He will spend the next seven years behind bars.
