A web-based program may give parents the extra encouragement they need to help their teenagers become better drivers.
Before teens get their official driver's licenses, they often must practice their road skills with parents. Researchers at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia found offering cash incentives up to $100 to parents and teens through an online program called the "Teen Driving Plan" resulted in significantly more driving practice.
The program helped teen drivers gain experience on city highways and winding, rural roads as well as at night and during bad weather.
