Teens accused of breaking into the Medley Centre were back in court Tuesday. Police say they caused damage inside the nearly empty mall earlier this month.
Just last week, a judge offered them a plea deal. They agreed to accept that plea deal, but there is still some paperwork that needs to be done before it is official. Many of the teens signed up for community service before they left court Tuesday.
News10NBC was met with some hostility at the Irondequoit Town Courthouse Tuesday afternoon as we caught the group of teens walking into court. Eight of the nine teens were represented in court. They are accused of causing about $3,000 worth of damage to the already ailing Medley Centre. All of their attorneys said they plan to avoid felony charges of burglary and criminal mischief. By agreeing to a plea deal, they’ll now face misdemeanor charges that won’t show up on their record.
The attorneys say the group is expected to officially plea in early August.
