A Lyons man is facing charges after a police chase in the Village of Newark.

Jared NeSmith, 24, of Lyons, is charged with assault, burglary, criminal mischief, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration.

Sheriff’s deputies say NeSmith was involved in a police chase on June 2 in the village of Newark. During the chase, investigators say a deputy sustained a fractured hand and NeSmith entered a home in attempt to escape police.

NeSmith was arraigned and sent to the Wayne County Jail. He will reappear in the Village of Newark Court at a later date.
