Two local high school students will be heading to New York City Wednesday for a nationwide competition.

Maureen Edwards, of Notre Dame of Batavia, and Alvis Green, of the School of the Arts, will represent Rochester in the National High School Musical Theatre Awards on June 30.

To make it to the national level, they won an American Idol style contest against 24 other high school actors and actresses recognized by the Rochester Broadway Theatre League’s “Stars of Tomorrow”.
