Over the past few months we have reported on several car recalls. Now, a local lawmaker is making sure car dealers aren’t selling you those defective vehicles.

Senator Charles Schumer is calling on state agencies to crack down on used car dealers who try to sell recalled cars without first fixing the problems. He says that while dealerships selling new cars must fix those problems, used car dealerships are not held to the same standards.

This comes after car retailer CarMax was accused of selling cars with known safety problems.
