The Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival is heading into day eight of its world-class performances! On Friday night, a handful of local young musicians will take the stage at Jazz Street. Rebecca Fath spoke to members of the Eastman Community Music School Junior Jazz Ensemble about their upcoming show.

These middle schoolers in the ECMS Ensemble have been working hard to hone their jazz skills before their concert Friday night at the Jazz Fest. We spoke to saxophone player and eighth grader Hayden DeAngelis. He says the ensemble has been practicing their improvisational skills, which he told us are very important for jazz performances.

You can see the ECMS Junior Jazz Ensemble Friday night at 6 p.m. on the Jazz Street Stage on Gibbs Street. That show is free.
