Wayne Central superintendent resigns

The Wayne Central Schools Board of Education accepted the resignation of its superintendent.

Last month, News10NBC learned that Renee Garrett was taking a personal leave of absence. Now, we have learned that she resigned Thursday. On Monday, John Carlevatti will take over as interim superintendent while the district conducts a search.

It was a turbulent year at Wayne Central Schools. A bus driver and teacher were charged with DWI and a recent state comptroller’s report found the district had been overtaxing residents.
