The Yates County Sheriff's Office says an Irondequoit man is dead following a rollover crash Friday evening in the town of Benton.

Deputies say they were called around 6:30 p.m. to State Route 14A near Bellona Station Road for a report of a crash.

Investigators say a car driven by 26-year-old Scott Ryan, of Irondequoit, was headed south on Route 14A, when the vehicle went over the center line, through the oncoming lane and on to the shoulder of the northbound lane. Deputies say Ryan's car hit a culvert on the east side of the road, which sent his vehicle into the air and caused it to roll over several times. Deputies say Ryan was ejected from his vehicle during the crash.

Mercy Flight was called to the scene and Ryan was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. No word yet from deputies on what may have caused the crash.
