Customs officials are advising holiday travelers to prepare for busy border crossings this holiday week.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency suggests that travelers prepare for inspection before arriving at the customs booth by having documents ready, rolling down windows and ending cell phone calls.

Drivers also should allow for extra time in case of heavy traffic due to the long Independence Day weekend.

Border wait times can be checked through the agency's website at CBP.gov.
