Orleans County man leads deputies on high speed chase

An Orleans County man is facing charges after deputies say he led them on a high-speed chase through two counties.

The Genesee County Sheriff's Department say 20-year-old Chad DeSmit, of Barre, Orleans County, ignored an order to pull over on Lockport Road around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. They say DeSmit took off and drove 120 mph in a 55 mph speed zone. Deputies say he facing multiple charges including reckless driving and unlawful fleeing a police officer.

DeSmit was taken into custody at the Genesee County Jail where he was later released on bail.
