People living in an apartment house in the Park Avenue neighborhood of Rochester can return home today.

A dryer fire forced them out for several hours overnight. It started just after midnight in the basement of a house on Thayer Street, off Rutgers Street.

Firefighters say heavy smoke seeped up to the first floor. Everyone made it out safely. They were allowed back inside after the house was ventilated.
