The RIT Men’s and Women’s Hockey teams are nearly in their new den. On Wednesday, RIT gave News10NBC a tour of the nearly completed Gene Polisseni Center.

The state of the art facility will play host to both the men’s and women’s hockey teams. RIT broke ground on the new rink back in the fall of 2012. The new rink will have room for 4,300 rowdy fans.

RIT Men’s Hockey Coach Wayne Wilson says the new facility will be a key asset in attracting top level players and competition.

Wayne Wilson said, “Seems to be an arm’s race in all sports and all facilities. I just think now we're up to par, we've leaped frog a whole bunch of schools with this facility. The fact that it is built right on campus and right in the middle of campus, makes it that much more appealing.

The Gene Polisseni Center will open in October.
