New Yorkers could see spike in health insurance premiums

Created: 07/04/2014 2:56 AM WHEC.com

Your health insurance premiums could be more expensive than you expect next year. According to our affiliate in Elmira, health insurance premiums could increase by an average of 13%. The proposed price hike comes after a request by 40 health insurers from across New York. They say the premiums need to increase because of the rising cost of covering patients. The proposal is now under review by the State Department Of Financial Services. More than one million people have enrolled in the state's health exchange program since last October.
