Hurricane Arthur weakens to a Category 1 storm

North Carolina's governor says state officials hope to have the bridge to Hatteras Island and its two-lane highway open by late tomorrow, despite some damage caused by Hurricane Arthur.

The storm brought flooding, and tens of thousands of power outages, to North Carolina's coast. But some areas are reporting few problems. The community of Emerald Isle says its July 4th fireworks are still on the schedule for tonight
